The pre-2002 pictures were taken using an Olympus D-340L, which can shoot pictures in 640 x 480 or 1024 x 768 resolutions using 24 bits of color (16 million colors).  However, most pictures shown on the web pages listed below have been reduced to 320 x 240 or less so that they would download in a reasonable length of time.  The camera can store 32 - 244 pictures on its 16 MB Smartmedia card, depending upon resolution and compression algorithm selected.

Christmas 2000 Susan got an Olympus-1000, which can shoot in 1600x1200, capture MPEG video with sound, has image stabilization, and a 10x optical zoon.  Then in early 2002 I purchased a Canon Powershot 220 and a 256 MB card, allowing me to shoot 854 pictures in 1600x1200.

Pictures of rolling stock taken in the Chicago area. Some were taken from the Metra passenger trains that run along the Union Pacific West Line to Geneva. Others pictures show Union Station and Chicago Northwestern Station. The pictures on this page are shown in 200 x 150 resolution.

Pictures of my 2 ft X 7 ft HO scale model railroad. It represents the Kansas City Southern as it existed in the late 1980s in Shreveport, Louisiana. Shown in 300 x 225 resolution. Also contains information on the new layout, currently under construction.

My first digital camera, shown above.  It still works but has been retired.  It was $800 and state of the art when it was new.   It still works, but is now obsolete compared to the new digital cameras we have in the house.
