Tuesday December 1, 1981
PHS (BOYS & GIRLS) VS RUSTON (HOME)
Girls, girls, girls….After school, went home and slept until 5:30, Frank
called, then I called Laura to say I would be gone but told her mom instead.
Me,
Paul, and Frank went to see "Coming At You" (a movie) for a dollar.
The movie was really terrible so we left early and went to the square. Went to
Action West (may have been our first time) and drank bourbon and coke. Got home
by 10:00 and Laura called, we talked about 1.5 hours. Was a great conversation.
Earlier that day Laura had gone shopping for a dress for a wedding.
The dollar theater was the Joy Cinema Six.
Action West…home of little miss "brown roun’" and "lass’
call for alcohol gentlemen…" and "I can’t drive 55!". We
often ended the night here when it was just they boys out, watching the
strippers dance on a stage that was surrounded by a bar.

Historical Fact: Motorists are
paying on average $1.38 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline this year.
Only went to two classes! Band. Missed Chemistry. Went to band and
electronics, and was excused from 11:30 – 2:05 for the concert. Went home,
called Laura. She had to go out to eat but came over about 1:30 and stayed until
4:30, oh yeah. Russell
is begging for an ass beating. Fought with Tammy all day, took a nap.
Laura had
church activity that night. My parents went to the farm. Did homework and went
to bed about 12:00.
Russel was Tammy’s latest boyfriend. He was tall and athletic
and never uttered a word, and yet I could
not stand him.

PHS GIRLS AT SOUTHWOOD TOURNAMENT
PHS BOYS AT SOUTHWOOD TOURNAMENT
Laura called that night. I was supposed to get a note from Gail but she got
the wrong locker, she cracked up in the lunch room about my cookie joke. Told
Laura about Gail and the cookie.
Lunch was the only good thing about going to school. The food was actually
quite good and only cost 35 cents. I usually ate twice, sometimes three times.
Once as I was in line with my tray waiting to pay my 35 cents when I told the
cafeteria supervisor how much I liked the peach cobbler. She smiled ear to
ear and grabbed
my tray and told the workers to give me more.
Friday December 4, 1981
At school, got two notes from Gayle, walked home and left bike and coat. Went
home and fell asleep at 3:10. Frank came over in his car. He dropped me off at
Parkway so I could get my coat and calculator and bike, and he went to Marti’s
house. Paul and Marti get off work at 10:00. My parents went out to eat. Laurie
took two percodans. Had a super Jam session, Laura spent the night with Laurie,
they drove over in Laura’s car but returned it and came back in Laurie’s
car. They said that they were going to do a Hamels light stunt. At 9:45, left to
pick up Matri and Paul at Gibsons. Me and Laura got in a slight argument in the
parking lot about getting kisses for a lighter. Laurie wanted to do something
kinky all night. I did a strip tease. Daniel, Frank, me, Paul, Laura, and Laurie
drove to Marti’s house and picked her up and went driving around. I said
"just take me home" and Laura did, after going to Alberstons for
sloppy joe mix. Frank, me, and Daniel stayed at my house eating sloppy joes.
While Frank was walking Marti home Jeter called and said Laura and her were
going to come back over because Laura wanted to talk to me. They came over and
Laura apologized for being so grouchy. We made up. Laura and Laurie and everyone
went home. Laura and Laurie spent the night at Laurie’s house. Gayle keeps
calling me. Then Frank, Paul, and me went to the square and then to the strip.
Got in at 2:40 A.M.
Saturday December 5, 1981
We had some beer left over from the night before. Laura called me about 1:00
and said that she and Laurie would drop by after Laura went home and took a
shower. But Laurie got in trouble and they never showed up and never called.
At
4:00, I called Laura and asked where they were while bad drum playing blasted in
the background. I said for her to call me that night and to tell me if Laurie
could go out. Gail is still calling me. I was watching "Kung Fu" movie
when Laura called. Laurie can go out, but they need a ride over. We picked them
up at their house at 7:00 in Frank’s station wagon. We went to my house while
Frank took his dad’s station wagon back. Laurie was upset because of her mom.
Played BUZZ in the living room and ran out of beer, we walked to Pak-A-Sak and
got 3 more six packs. Paul and Marti got off at 10:00, on the way back mom and
dad picked us up on the way back from the farm. We all went into the den for a
while and played STATES. Then Paul came over, and Frank, Paul, Jeter, and Daniel
went to Guys and Dolls while Laura and I stayed and talked. Marti and Ronnie and
his friend and Ron and Tony had dropped over. When everyone came back, Laura and
I acted like we were in a big fight but we didn’t go along with it for very
long. Paul took Laura, Laurie, and Daniel home while Frank slept on our couch.
Frank said "Hello Ralph!" and then he went home.
The neighborhood pal-a-sak was about a 15 minute walk.
They sold beer, milk
and eventually gas a a single pump.
Sunday December 6, 1981
Frank went to church with us. After church, mom and dad went to the farm. I
took a shower and picked up Tammy from Sunday School. I came home, called Laura,
would be over by 3:00. Frank came over and we went to remove his father’s
display from the convention center. After the Apple computer store, ate Frank’s
mom’s cookies, went home and changed clothes, made it to Laura’s house in
mom’s car by 3:05. We went to my house and she removed a splinter from my
hand. Laura and I did the wild thing in my bedroom several times. Paul called at
6:00. I took Laura home and when I came back Paul was there. We went to Ronnie’s
house and Frank’s house but they were not home, so we went to Jeter’s house,
then Paul and me and Laurie went driving around to Guys and Dolls and then went
driving around some more. Got home at 9:30 and Gayle called and then reviewed
the Journal and went to bed. Are girls superior? "Maybe so…." Says
Pu.
Laura’s "girls are superior" comment has top be
explained in person.
Frank’s dad went to work for Apple Computers after he retired from the Air
Force. This was when Apple was just starting out and the only machine they
offered was the Macintosh, which grew out of the Apple Lisa (which never had
market success because of its high cost).
Frank’s mom was always cooking delicious things. Once we came home from a
late night out and went to his house and ate half a pan of lasagna. We finished
it off. The next day his mom was upset because the lasagna was going to
be dinner for the entire family that night. Sorry! She also had a great recipe for
homemade pizza that was very labor intensive but incredibly delicious. She would
make it for Frank every year on his birthday.
Monday December 7, 1981
After school, Frank came over and we went to Minden to pay his ticket.
Got
home right before dark. Later, Paul and Frank came over and we went to Ronnie’s
house and then to Burger King. They left and I called Laura and talked about 1.5
hours. At 11:00, Paul, Frank, and me went driving around drinking and then went
to the square and then to the strip. We went bar hopping. Ronnie paid the $40.00
back today. Got in around 2:20 A.M.
Frank what were you doing in Minden? Was this a speeding ticket?

Tuesday December 8, 1981
PHS (BOYS & GIRLS) VS SOUTHWOOD (HOME)
Checked in, in time for lunch. After school fell asleep and then Gayle called
me, she had JA (Junior Achievement) but said she would drop by at 7:00. Got home
at 8:00 and Gayle called and they (her gang) said they would come over. They
did. They all said that Gayle really liked me and that I should try to keep her
warm and kiss her goodnight. SHIT! I wouldn’t but I know someone who would.
Laura had called. I called her back and then called her back again. I felt bad
about being mean to Gayle. I said everything could be explained in a note she
would receive at school tomorrow. Talked to Laura from 9:00 – 10:00.
Told her
all about Gayle. After the conversation I made a frozen pizza and wrote Gayle
her letter. Daniel got his car today.
Gayle was a sophomore at Parkway and although she was a beautiful
girl with an awesome figure, she
came across as a bit shy and timid. She couldn’t stack up to Laura’s extremely
quick wits, love for beer, and military "take charge" attitude in
moments of crisis.
FRANK NOTES: Daniel
got a 1969 Chevelle. It had a 307 in it, but he replaced it with a 327.
I really
admired all of the work that Daniel put into that car. He really did a good job.

PHS ELECTIONS OF MS. AND MISS PHS
After school, Frank and I went to Laurie’s house, then to Laura’s house
and watched TV while a manicure class went on. Manicure class left and her mom
went to the library. We messed around, picked up Joe in Frank’s car, messed
around, and left. Mom saw my report card today. Laura called at 8:30 and I
called her back later and we talked for about an hour. Before she called I went
to Thrifty Liquor and got coke and bourbon. That night I reread all the old
notes and then went to sleep.
Laura’s mom was always trying to do things to enrich herself.
I really
liked her mom- she was always friendly and always looking for ways to help
people. You have to give her a lot of credit for her involvement when you
realize this was a period in her life where she was beginning to suspect her
husband’s interests lay elsewhere. Many people would have been an emotional
basket case.
Thursday December 10, 1981
PHS (BOYS & GIRLS) AT RUSTON TOURNAMENT
Mom and dad went to the farm after work. I called Laura and asked if I could
invite myself over. She said yes, I asked when, she said 6:30 – 7:00.
I got
there at 6:40 with a margarita for her mom but her mom was not there. I gave it
to Laura and by the time she had ½ finished it her mom came home and drank the
rest of it and then her mom unsuccessfully tried to do her homework. Laura and I
went into their den and watched the Christmas tree and wrestled around after
some Christmas special got to me. I left about 9:15, and mom and dad got home
about 9:50. Went to school all day that day. Of course Gayle called all day.
Her mom liked Margarittas and when I could I would stop at the Frozen Drink
place by LSUS (which was near Laura’s house) and get her one.
Friday December 11, 1981
Only went to the last of 4th and all of 5th hour that
day. Slept in real late, after school slept right up until party time, no shower
or anything. About 6:30, mom was home but dad was still at work so I took her
car to pick up Laura and Laurie and bring them over. Picked up Laura first, then
Laurie, brought them to my house and Paul was already there talking to mom.
Then
Frank and Daniel came over. We all went in search of Margaritas and found them
at the Rusty Nail. Went back and drank beer in the den when Marti, Ronnie,
Ellen, and Joe stopped over. Frank and Marti left late and Joe did also.
Paul,
me, and Daniel took Laurie and then Laura home because they had to be home by
1:00 A.M. Then Paul and I dropped Daniel off at home and then Paul and I went to
Action West and stayed there until about 2:15, then we went to my house and
drank bourbon. Paul left about 3:40 A.M. drunk as hell. Me too.
My house was the starting point for all our get-togethers.
I was
usually the one who
always called everyone and organized how and when we would all hook up. We never
had much extra money, but we did always manage to have enough for beer and cover
charges when we needed it. We were a close group that always helped each other
out- if someone didn’t have enough money chances were that someone else did.
Between all of us, we always managed to have a good time.
Saturday December 12, 1981
Woke up at 11:30. Called Laura and her and Laurie came over for a few hours
from about 2:00 – 5:00 in Laura’s car. We talked on the couch awhile, played
strip poker and finished it in mom and dads room because Tammy and Russel were
just in the den. Laura and I got completely naked so I guess Laurie won.
After
than, Laura’s mom called and said she needed the car. They left. Laura called
me shortly later and said they needed a ride over. I called Frank and he said he
would be over in the station wagon with Daniel just as soon as his father got
back from church with it. At 6:45, Frank came over and we picked up Laura and
Laurie and we went to my house. We played records with Daniel’s strobe light
and I was really dancing wild and Frank and I were about to do a strip tease
when my parents came home. They came home early. Shit! We all sat around quiet
like in the living room, then me, Laura, and Laurie went into the kitchen then
the den and mellowed out. Then finally Paul came over and Frank, Daniel, Paul,
me, Laura, and Laurie, and Joe just talked in the den. Frank was sleepy all
night because he took lots of cold medicine. I guess I started being mean to
Laura but not on purpose. Then we all went to McDonalds in Paul’s car because
Daniel (who was drunk) said he would buy us all cheeseburgers. I was mean to
Laurie and Laura again at McDonalds. After McDonalds, we went to Laura’s house
and watched "Superman". We woke up Laura’s mom but she did not mind.
Boy was Laura mad at me. I got mad and stood outside the rest of the time and
then Frank came out and said he wanted to leave. We all left and I had hardly
even looked at Laura and she slammed the car door looking at me. I told Paul to
take me right home. I got home and called Laura at about 1:10. We talked until
about 2:20 and made up.
Daniel had saved his money throughout his entire childhood and had a bank
account with money in it. He was tight with his money so being treated to
cheeseburgers was a great way to close out the night.
Laura was mad when I left. I’ll never forget that look as she slammed the
car door shut on me. I’m sure I pissed her without cause- I could be a real
ass sometimes.
Sunday December 13, 1981
Frank and Daniel went to church with me. After church Laura called about
11:40, said she would drop by today. Wasted the whole day besides the concert at
2:30 and it lasted until almost 4:00. Got home and called Laura, she was still
not home. Was eating when Laurie called expressing her concern. Finally about
7:00, Laura and Laurie drove over in Laurie’s car. Laura and been with her mom
at church activities all day. They stayed about an hour or so and then left.
I
called Robert and he said he would stop by after he dropped Ron off at the base
and would bring a little beer. He got stuck with Carson and Carson drank the
beer. Robert called from home and apologized, I said OK and stayed up until 2:15
writing Layna Cook a letter and then went to bed. Robert did say he would try to
come over tomorrow.
I was playing the trombone in what we called "A" band, the top band
in the school. We did a Christmas concert.
Monday December 14, 1981
PHS GIRLS AT SHREVE CHRISTIAN (AWAY)
Woke up at 11:15, took a shower, went to 5th hour, then home.
I
tried calling Laura but the phone was busy. Finally got through just 1 minute
before Robert stopped over. I apologized. Robert stopped over and we talked
until about 5:15 A.M. we were drunk.
We would have kept on partying but my dad usually got up about 5:30 and I
didn’t want him to come out and see us completely trashed and realize we had
stayed up all night drinking (on a school night to boot).
Tuesday December 15, 1981
PHS BOYS VS JESUIT (HOME)
BAND BOOSTERS MEETING 7:30
Slept all day. At 3:15 Laura and Laurie dropped by and stayed until about
4:35. Laura said she would call that night. She did and we talked about 1 hour.
She had to tinkle and at the end Joe had to use the phone. I was developing a
bad hangover. I did walk to Frank’s house at about 5:00 to get my bike.
Nice
train platform. Paul and Frank went to see "Richard Pryor in Concert".
I wanted to but couldn’t. I talked to Joe Manchester in the kitchen for a
little while. Laura said on the phone she would write me a note.
Wednesday December 16, 1981
Went to school all day. After school, me and Frank went to the BX, the
Shreveport Times for graffiti, Soto Records, then the commissary. Got home and
talked to Gayle on the phone. Mom, dad, and Tammy went Christmas shopping.
I
stayed home and made a pizza. Watched TV, messed around, Laura called at 8:50,
we talked until 10:00. Gave Gayle Robert Della Pietra’s note and she got
upset. Gayle called at 9:30 and asked about coming over. I told her I was on the
other phone talking to Laura and not to come over. Laura asked me over for
tomorrow, and she is not done with her note for me.
Robert Della Pietra had listened to my situation, and had volunteered
to
write a note to to Gayle explaining my situation. We wrote while we were
drinking the
Monday night we stayed up all night. It was such a harsh, condescending note! I should not have let
Robert write it, much less let Gayle read
it.
Thursday December 17, 1981
Went to school all day. After school, goofed off, dozed off, called Laura at
5:08 but she was at skit practice. She called me back at 5:40 and asked if I was
coming over. "Yes, when?" About 7:00. Joe came over and left.
Gayle
called twice. I was on time, but they had company. Laura and I went and got
catnip for her mom at Albertsons, went back to her house, then Laura and I along
with some girl went to Joe’s play practice for awhile, then Laura and I went
back to her house. We exchanged notes that night. Left at 9:45 P.M. and went to
Robert’s house and bumped into him as he was leaving with Carson. We went back
to his house and I borrowed 3 of his yearbooks. Went home and looked at the
yearbooks and then went to bed.
I wanted to see what Laura looked like in her underclass photos, as Robert
and her both attended Captain Shreve High School.
Friday December 18, 1981

PHS VS SHREVE CHRISTIAN (HOME)
CHRISTMAS DANCE
Went to school all day, there were parties in most classes except
electronics. Told Mr. Peacock about the June car wreck. Marti and Frank went to
the Christmas dance, Paul got off work at 10:00 and Laurie was sick and did not
want to go out so I called Laura and we talked quite awhile and I tried to get
her to admit what she wanted to do. So finally I said it. "Come over and
watch TV with me!" She said OK and would be over between 6:30 and 7:00.
Mom
got off work at 11:00 that night and dad went Christmas shopping, then to Mr.
Billy Perry’s, etc. Tammy went to the Christmas dance with Shannon and her
friends. Laura called back before she came over and said that Joe could drop her
off but she needed a ride home. I called mom at work and got the car for
tonight. Was drinking bourbon when Laura and Joe showed up. Joe came in and had
brought 2 six packs of beer over. Joe stayed about 4 minutes, and left. Laura
and I watched TV and did the wild thing a couple of times in grandma’s room.
I
took her home about 2:00 A.M. that night. Jimmy her brother was home from
college. I heard that Charles was coming in from Washington tomorrow.
Also Frank and I had gone to the junkyard and found a front end.
Also Julie,
Bic, and Teresa came up to parkway and pulled a joke on Gail with Teresa. Robert
and Layna stopped over and dropped off Tammy’s Christmas present.
Saturday December 19, 1981
Woke up about 12:00, made spaghetti, Frank, Daniel and Michael came over but
I was still cooking. They went ahead to the BX and while they were there, I ate
and took a shower. Then Frank, Daniel, Michael, and me all went to Stan’s
record shop and then to Mall St. Vincent (it was crowded). I bought Laura a
Christmas card and looked around. Then we went home and I called Laura about
5:00 but she was out shopping with Joe, and Annette . She got home and called me
at 5:40 and she said that she could go out but needed a ride. "OK".
Paul came over about 7:10, and Frank and Daniel quickly followed. I had been
drinking bourbon and looking at Captain Shreve yearbooks. I called Laura and
told her we would be late a couple of times. Gayle called, I said we six would
be over. At 8:00 Daniel, Paul, Frank, and me went to Gayle’s house and well I
just will not talk about it! Left and came home and mom and dad had come home
and so had Tammy. They all said that Laura, Laurie, and Marti had stopped by.
True. (bet dad). They all came back after looking for Gayle’s house and we
didn’t stay at my house to long before we decided to (Marti’s Idea) go to
the Regency and the Shearatin to look for open rooms.
Me, Tammy, Laura, and Laurie went in Laurie’s car there and Frank, Marty,
Paul, and Daniel went in Paul’s car. On the way, I got in a fight with Laurie
and wanted to walk home. Got to the hotel and Frank settled me down. Went
running around and me and Marti hid in a storeroom for a man looking for us and
me and Marti faked him out by holding hands past him. Met up with the gang
outside before we went to the other hotel. Laurie and I made up and she told me
to call her that night no matter how late it was when I got home. I was very
buzzed the whole night! At the other hotel, in the bar we met old graduate
friends and left for McDonalds and I pigged out! Ate half of my finger too.
We
may have done other things too but I don’t remember it all to well. We all
went to my house and Laura and Laurie went straight home, and Frank and Marti
had already gone to Marti’s house so Paul left to take Daniel home when he
bumped into Frank walking back from Marti’s house. They dropped Daniel off and
Paul and Frank came back over and stayed from about 1:00 – 1:30 when Laurie
called me. We talked until about 2:30, it was a great conversation.
When we went to Gayle’s house it was dark outside and we were running
around in her front yard. Gayle and I found ourselves alone on the far side of
the wall of her house and in a spontaneous move I pushed her up against the wall
and kissed her. I felt bad about it later because I was mad about Laura, but I
had been feeling a bit bad that this girl had liked me for so long and wasn’t
giving up. I felt like she deserved some sort of "reward".
But of
course, it only served to strengthen her resolve.
Sunday December 20, 1981
Gayle has a cold!
Woke up, went to Church in Frank’s car with Frank and Daniel but were
pulled over on base and told to leave because of Frank’s headlights went back
to Frank’s house and ate eggs and decided to attend the 12:30 – 1:30 mass.
Paul called, said he would go to church with us. He came over in his father’s
El Camino at 12:15 and Paul, Me, Frank, and Daniel all took Daniel’s car
(piece of shit) to church. After church at Frank’s house we decided we would
see a movie. We decided which one and called Marti. Went to church, called Laura
and finally Laurie. Laurie said her mom would lend her the money. The movie
started at 3:30 and was called "Neighbors" and was rated R. We called
Laurie back and lied and said we were not going to go. We went to McDonalds,
Wal-Mart, and then after the movie (we took Paul’s father’s El Camino) Frank
had to go home to eat and I wanted to go home too. Paul came over that night and
we talked in the Den until about 9:40, when Frank came over. While Paul and I
were talking, Laura called once and Gayle called once. Both conversations were
pretty short. Paul, me, and Frank went to Albertson’s for sloppy joe mix and
buns and brought it back to my house to cook and eat (after we stopped at Pak-A-Sak
for milk and beer). After eating the sloppy joes, we played monopoly until about
2:15 A.M. and then Paul and Frank went home and I went to bed.
Monday December 21, 1981
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Paul and Marti had to work at Gibson’s until 12:00 tonight.
Titty Freak! Woke up about 11:00, messed around until about 12:00 when Gayle
called, was a short conversation, was about to take a shower when Frank dropped
over. We went to Marti’s house, Red River Valley Bank where I withdrew $100,
the Credit Union, Gibson’s (for Frank’s paint), Paul’s house, Cobbs BBQ,
Pauls house then Frank dropped me off after taking Paul home. When coming in,
the phone was ringing it was Laura. I didn’t say much at all and let her go.
I
took a shower and tried calling her back but her mom said she was at Laurie’s
house. I called Laurie and told Laura that I had to speak to her, she said to
come over about 7:30 because she had basketball practice (but Laura and I found
out it had been canceled at the last minute). I messed around, took moms car and
dropped off Tammy at school for the game and then went shopping at Eastgate (met
LeeAnn) and at 7:35 was at Laura’s house, stayed there until 10:45, forgot to
give her the card. Met Jimmy and his girlfriend, Laura and I talked outside (I
talked about Robert) and then went in again. Got home and called Frank (wanted
to go back to bed) and David Polander called. Thinks he is John Lennon, I ate
frozen mexican dinner and then went to bed. Titty Freak! Laura said she would
come over tomorrow.
Tuesday December 22, 1981
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Gayle is still calling me everyday. Got up about 9:30 A.M. because Frank and
me are supposed go grocery shopping at 10:00. Frank made it over about 10:30, we
went to the BX and then Southpark (met Dana Brocet there) and saw Laura’s mom
reading Christmas stories there to little children. Got back about 3:15 after
having underwear made at Gibson’s for Laura. Marti made it for me. Called
Laura but she was out shopping but she called me at about 3:45, she had been
shopping all day also. I asked her and Laurie Jeter to come over about 6:30 –
7:00. I was drinking bourbon and playing the piano when Frank and Daniel came
over. Then Laura and Laurie came over and then later Paul came over. Note: Due
to the high rate of alcohol consumption, the remainder of the night is very
unclear. While everyone was over, Gayle called but did not talk long because
Laura answered the phone. We all decided to go to Gayle’s house and sing
Christmas carols. We did and sat around in Gayle’s living room for awhile.
Then we all left and went to the Chauteau for awhile. I crawled out the window
and hung on the bars, and Laura got mad but I didn’t know she was mad. We had
the key to the room too! Then we went to McDonalds and they were just closing
but we got some hamburgers anyway. Met Julie and Teresa there too. Asked Laura
what was wrong and to call me when she got home. We all went home and I fell
asleep in my room and missed Laura’s call. Damn! Slept on the bed with my
clothes on and all. Paul got home at 1:30 (Pu got home about 1:00). Paul’s
mother had waited up worrying until 4:30 that night thinking he wasn’t home
yet! What a laugh! Never did find out what was bugging Laura that night.
Forgot: Me, Frank, Laura, and Lauris took my mom’s car to take Tammy
skating at 7:00 we tool Cherri too and then went to the base so Frank could by
Tom Collins mixer. Came home at 7:30 and Paul showed up about 7:45.
Getting a hotel room at the nicest hotel in Shreveport was risky- when you do
it on the sly. Frank had uncovered a flaw in the hotel procedures where people
who were checking out would leave the key on the table of their room and leave.
So we would sneak into the hotel and try the doors until we found one that was
unlocked. It was always a room housekeeping had not gotten to yet. But we didn’t
mind; the price was right. We would get the key, hang the "do not
disturb" sign on the door and then go get the rest of the gang, and come
into the hotel in twos or threes (to not arouse suspicion). We would party in
the room until the late hours and then leave. We never got caught.
The underwear I had made for Laura were pink and said "Mark’s" on
the back, and "sweet" written on the crotch in the front. I’m glad
Marti was there to make it for me, it would have been embarrassing to go to the
custom t-shirt booth at Gibsons and ask for stars, glitter, and tasteless
comments pasted all over a pair of underwear. She got a kick out of setting it
up for me.
Wednesday December 23, 1981
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Got a cold and I am trying to keep Laura Lee from getting it!
Woke up at about 7:30 and goofed off until 10:30 A.M. and called Laura (woke
up her up) and apologized for missing her call last night but asked her what was
the matter. She said I jumped onto her and Laurie (as usual). We talked about 35
minutes and I apologized for my mistakes. Later that day, Frank and I went to
the Sears at Mall St. Vincent and then to the Sears in the Heart of Bossier (I
bought dad a fire extinguisher for a Christmas present) and got home about 2:00.
I took a shower, ate, messed around and Laura and Laurie had been shopping all
day again. Paul and Marti had to work until 12:00 that night. So Laura and
Laurie came over in Laura’s car about 7:00 that night. We talked in the den.
Called Frank but Daniel said he went to jump a train. Laura, Laurie, and me sat
in the den talking. Left once for Pak-A-Sak for a six pack of beer. Came back
and talked until 1:00. At first we talked about my past and then Laura and
Laurie revealed their shocking pasts, I was astounded and speechless. They left
about 1:00 and Laura called me on the phone when she got home at 1:40 and we
talked about 1.3 hours. She wanted to make sure I did not take our conversation
from earlier all wrong.
What is this about jumping a train?
Laura and Laurie were always surprising me. They were no angles!

question time! What is meant by your sentence "He already asked Laura but
"I thought you knew" as in "why not?". " Also, who or
what is TACA?
Somethings are probably best left unasked! It had to
do with fooling around and Laura implying that she thought I knew she was on her
period. Makes perfect sense now, huh? The TACA was a french word for
"I Love You".
Thursday December 24, 1981
CHRISTMAS EVE
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Woke up, messed around, took a shower and was going to call Laura when Robert
called while I was in the shower. He said he would be over in a few minutes. I
was drying my hair when he showed up. We talked a while and got some beer and
eventually Laura and Laurie showed up (after they had driven by once and went to
Frank’s house and Gibsons- they were afraid of Robert) and Me and Laura and
Robert and Lauries talked for about an hour and they gave me a Pu teddy bear and
Laura gave me a Christmas present and a card. I told Laura that if she had
nothing to do that night she could call me but she said she had church, and well
I did also. I wound up going out with Robert anyway so I did not mind at all
when I found out that she did not get a chance to call. She also gave me a gift
certificate. They left and at about 6:30 (Gayle had been calling all day) mom
called from a bar in Bossier and said that her and dad would not be home in time
for church. So I said that Robert, Me, and Tammy would go anyway in mom’s car.
Me, Robert, and Tammy went to Laura’s church to see candles in Paper Bags and
went driving around and at 7:45 Robert and I went into Gayle’s house for fudge
(after first knocking at the wrong door). She also gave me a Christmas card.
Left at 8:00, and went home and mom and dad were already there and dad was
passed out on the couch. We all opened up our presents (except dad) and later
(about 9:00) Robert and I went out and got champagne. Stopped at his apartment
but spent the night driving around. Robert showed me how to open Champagne
bottles the neat way. Got home about 2:00 A.M. and I was real sleepy so I went
straight to bed. Laura had been at church that evening and spent the whole
evening and night with her family (which is understandable considering it is
Christmas Eve).
I can’t drink champagne without getting the hickups. Also Robert and I
switched to Old Millwalke after the champagne ran out. I have a cold.
Robert and I always managed to hook up on Christmas. It was great fun
exploring the city and listening to tunes in his yellow 1977 Cutlas Salon, with
white roof and interior. It was a stunning car that Robert kept immaculate.

CHRISTMAS DAY
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Still have a cold. Worse, I feel a bad cough coming on and I don’t feel
well. This could be a bad cold….
Woke up about 6:45 A.M. real thirsty but stayed in bed and slept until about
10:30. Stayed in my room and played the piano. I was in the kitchen reading the
newspaper at about 12:00 when mom came back from Church (it started at 11:00).
Dad was awake and drinking tomato juice. As soon as mom got home she began
making a big meal. Was finished by about 1:00 – 1:45 and we ate. Called Laura
about 11:45 and we talked about 20 minutes about Christamas, etc. Asked her what
she was doing today and she said all she had to do was to eat a dinner at her
house with Jeffery and Annette, etc. So I told her to call me once she finished
eating. My parents went to the farm and I got impatient for her to call so I
called her at about 3:00 and asked her if she wanted to come home with me. She
said "yes" so I went to her house and found Jeffery, Annette, Mr and
Mrs. Lee, Jimmy, and Laura there. Laura and I left for my house, we were there
for a while when Charles May, Victor Roberts and some other jerk came over to
visit Tammy, so I couldn’t stand them so Laura and I went into my bedroom.
So Laura and I talked and finally (at about 6:00) Laura said she better be
getting home, so I drove her home. Ron had called but I told him I would call
him back when I was not so busy. Ronnie had also called and wanted to have a jam
session tomorrow just like old times. I drove Laura home and on the way back,
stopped at the Skelly’s gas station and called Ron back. He gave me to Robert
and Robert said he would dump Carson and be over shortly. So I called Laura and
I apologized (in not so many words) about not being able to go out but for her
and Laurie to have a good time. Also told her to call me at 1:30 to discuss what
TACA did that night. I told them they could drop by Marti’s house because the
rest of the gang would probably be there. So Ron got tired and Robert and Layna
and me dropped Ron off at his apartment and Robert, Layna, and me went to Marti’s
house. Found Marti, her brother, Paul, Daniel, Frank, and Marti’s parents
there. Layna (pissed) and me stayed a short while and had Layna and Robert drive
me home. They came in so Robert could pee and then they left. I updated the
Journal, warmed up the electric blanket on grandma’s bed and laid down and
awaited Laura’s call. She was going to call at 1:30 A.M., wrote this at 12:25.
Fell asleep in den when Laura called at exactly 1:30. She and Laurie had went to
see the movie "Ghost Story". Laura and I were both tired and sleepy so
the conversation was short and then I went to bed. We talked about 20 min.
"Gotta drain the main vein!" was Robert’s way of saying he
"had to use the restroom". He and his brother Ron had lots of sayings
that dealt with farts, burps, and of course anything that was done in the
bathroom. When ever Ron used a toilet to pee, he would yell "Damn that
waters cold!". Or if he had to take a crap he would announce that he had to
"download", which was an Air Force term for removing bombs from the
bombay of a B-52.
Ron was living in the barracks on Base and all sorts of wild things happened
there. I felt sorry for some of the people- for instance him and a few air force
buddies were making drinks in his room one night and they were getting drunk.
When the only girl partying with them left briefly to go use the bathroom down
the hall, Ron...OK see in person for this one also.
Saturday December 26, 1981
Woke up, and around 12:00 Frank called. He came over and we made two boxes of
spaghetti and Frank brought some biscuits (he drove his car over). We ate. My
parents had gone to the farm. Frank had also brought over some of his new
records to listen to because his stereo needed a new needle. Ronnie came over
and me and Frank and Ronnie took my mom’s car to St. Vincent to have keys
made. Bumped into Rob Horner there and met him again at my house (after loosing
him). Rob, me, Frank, and Ronnie were talking in my kitchen when Ellen called,
she then came over, and brought Ronnie some cake. So Ronnie and Ellen left, then
Frank and so Rob and me talked in living room a while when Laura called. I told
her I would call her back. Rob left and I called Laura. Her and Laurie wanted to
go out tonight. Alright!! Laura was already ready (it was only 6:10!) and that I
could come pick her up. I picked up Laura and then we drove to Laurie’s house
to see if she was back from eating pizza with her sister. She was. So Laura,
Laurie, and me went to my house and then my parents came home. Me, Laura, and
Laurie went into the den. Frank and Daniel showed up and Laurie called Paul at
work (who was about to get off at 7:00) and told him to bring some beer over. So
Paul showed up about 7:30 with 2 six packs of Micky. Laurie had brought over
Pina Colada mix. So me, Frank, Daniel, Paul, Laura, and Laurie got started on
the beer when Frank called home to see if his parents had left for the movie
yet. They had, so we all went to Frank’s house (his den) and messed with his
dog Christy, the trains, electronic game, etc. I snuck around to the other
bathroom entrance on the bedroom side and caught Laura peeing. She was getting
pretty buzzed, she was wrestling with Paul and Laurie. It was getting to be
about the time when Frank’s parents would be coming home so we left for the
Chateau. Frank and Lauries went alone at first in to make sure everything was
alright and found a police convention there. So we left and went to Hamels so
Laura and I could pee and it was about 12:35 so I said, "take me home"
and Paul dropped me and Laura off at my house and Laura and I walked around the
block once and then I drove her home in mom’s car. Was cold that night.
Stopped in Laura’s driveway and talked about 1.5 hours and then I went home.
Got in about 2:45 A.M. or so and went right to bed.
Sunday December 27, 1981
Went to church, Frank came with us. After church, mom and dad went to the
Farm so I made pizza, took a shower, and called Laura and invited her over.
After dropping Tammy off at Sheri’s house, I went to Laura’s house and we
stopped at Skellys to look at the scenery (or to buy cigarettes, I don’t know
which) and then went on to my house. We talked for a while, then made out. Frank called. I invited him over. Me, Laura and Frank
were talking when Paul called about wanting to play monopoly. "OK". So
Laura called Laurie and I went to pick her up in mom’s car along with Frank
and Laura. Then we all went to my house and waited for Paul. I cleaned house.
Paul came over and me and Laura and Laurie and Frank and Paul played monopoly in
the dining room. Paul won, then Laura, then Laura, then Laurie, then Frank. I
then took Laurie then Laura home in mom’s car and Paul drove home. Ed Martian
had dropped by during the monopoly game and asked if he could spend the night.
"Yes." Was home by myself when Frank called, then he walked over. He
had broken Marti’s wrist- an accident while they were wrestling and fell off
the couch. Marti called here for Frank and so Frank left for Marti’s house. I
worked on the Journal and waited for Edward. Mom and dad came home and I talked
to mom for about 1.5 hours (good conversation) and Edward or Frank still have
not showed up (it’s 12:20 A.M.). Frank came over and we snuck out and went to
find beer, but no one would sell it. So we came back and ate frozen Mexican
dinners and then I drove Frank home. Went to be about 3:00 A.M.
Frank was only joking about breaking Marti’s arm, but I didn’t find out
it was a joke for some time.

was a joke. She broke it roller skating. We made up the story that
we were making out on the couch and fell off.
Monday December 28, 1981
PHS BOYS AT LOGANSPORT TOURNEY
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Ed Martin dropped by at 7:30 A.M. and tapped on my window and woke me up. We
went into the den and talked about 35 minutes and then he left back for Nat.
Went back to sleep and then Frank came over and woke me up. He asked if I wanted
to go to the unemployment office. I said yes and Frank went back home to eat! I
went back to sleep and then got up and dressed and Frank came back over. We went
to the unemployment office and filled out application for TG+Y. We went back
home to shower before interview. I ate, took a shower and then Laura dropped
over. We were talking on the couch when Frank and Marti dropped over. Laura left
and me and Frank dropped Marti off at Gibsons and went for an interview at the
unemployment office. It was Marti’s last day of work at Gibsons. We bumped
into David and Jon Polander there. Also saw Victor Roberts. Left the office and
went to Paul’s house, then went for a quick drive in Paul’s car. Frank and I
left for home. At home, called Laura about 2:30, we talked and she said she
would call me back later when she found out Jeter’s room number, etc. Took a
nap and Laura called and woke me up and I said we would be over to pick her up
between 6:00 – 7:00 and if it was after 7:00 that I would call and let her
know. I made Macaroni and Cheese and then left and picked up Laura at 6:30 in
mom’s car. We went to my house and about 7:15 Paul drove over with Frank and
Daniel in his car. Dad was back from the farm and was ordering pizza. Laura, me,
Daniel, Paul, and Frank all left in Paul’s car to visit Laurie Jeter in the
hospital. On the way, Paul raced my parent’s in my dad’s truck on their way
to get their pizza. Paul drove by the square once and then we reminded him of
Laurie at Schumpert Medical. We went to the hospital at 7:50 and talked to
Laurie. The lady sharing a room with her had to get and ENEMA so we all left the
room for a while. We all visited the baby ward and went back to Laurie’s room.
Laurie wanted to see the babies so we all went back to the ward again. Then we
all left and went and picked up Marti. Then we all went to Guys and Dolls, Laura
and I got bored so we got Paul’s car keys and we sat in Paul’s car listening
to the radio for about 20 min. Then we all went (Marti, Frank, Paul, Daniel, me,
Laura) to Frank’s house. Played with the TV games, train set, Laura and I on
couch, Marti and Frank smooched the entire time. At about 11:30, Paul said he
had to be going because he had to work in the morning. Marti stayed with Frank,
and Paul dropped Laura and me off at my house. Russell and Tammy, Simmons and
Sherri were still there at 12:00. Laura and I went to my bedroom and did the
wild thing. At about 12:45 I drove Laura home. Simmons and Russle were leaving
too, but Sheri was spending the night with Tammy. Got home and Tammy and Sheri
were making confetti to roll someone’s house. I went right to bed.
What was Laurie in the hospital for? I can’t remember.

Tuesday December 29, 1981
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Woke up about 11:40 and mom and dad had gone to the farm and Tammy was at the
mall with Sherri. I put on some records, took a shower, went to the bank in mom’s
car and got $30.00, then I went to Robert’s house but he was not home. Called
Laura from a pay phone, was going to drop by and ask Laura if she wanted to go
get a hamburger with me. But Joe (her brother) said she had gone shopping. So I
was going to McDonalds but is was to crowded so I went to Cobbs BBQ instead. Saw
Terri Byrd on the road driving a red monte carlo. After BBQ, went home and put
on some records. Called Frank, he had fixed his car radio and was going to pick
up his dad’s late Christmas present at Sears in a little while and wanted to
know if I wanted to come along. "Maybe. Call me back before you go."
Shortly, Laura called, we talked a little while (15 min) and said if I got to
bored to come on over, so Frank called again and I said "no" but to
bring my records over. I said to call me later but he never did because he wound
up going out with Marti of course. Frank dropped the records off and I listened
to the Queen album once and then Tammy came home and then I took mom’s car and
went to Laura’s house. We looked at an Arizona magazine together and talked
and when they were going to eat (about 5:40) I politely refused an offer to stay
and told Laura that I was going to drop by Robert’s house (was at Laura’s
house about an hour, it was a great conversation). I went to Robert’s house
and Robert and I talked and when I called home I found out that Laura had called
for me. Tammy was going skating with Tiffiny. So I called Laura from Robert’s
house and told her I had to eat with Robert but that I would be over by about
7:00. "OK". So I ate and left and went to Laura’s house and got
there about 7:15. We left and went in search of Schumpert Hospital to visit
Laurie. We finally found it (after I stopped at a gas station off I-20 and asked
directions). Visited Laurie (her mom was there but later left) about 1 hour. So
then Laura and I went to my house and still no one was home. We talked, she read
the newspaper and then we watched TV. About 1.7 hours later (about 10:40) mom
and dad came home. We were in the Den (not watching TV anymore) when Tammy came
home (about 11:10). About 11:20, Laura and I were in the den when Victor and
Charles dropped over. Dad was already in bed but Charles Tammy and Victor all
talked in the living room. Mom too, but she couldn’t stand it so she came and
talked to Laura and I for a while and then mom and Laura went in to the living
room to try and bore Victor and Charles into leaving (NO SUCCESS). Finally mom
just told them to scram. They left and Laura and I were in the den and mom and
Tammy were in the kitchen arguing when mom called Laura and I in to get our
opinions on Tammy’s dating. After a wild conversation I left to take Laura
home at about 12:40 A.M. Dropped her off, came home and went to bed. Frank was
out with Marti call night, Laurie was in the hospital but Paul kept calling and
wanted to do something all night but I never did see him.
Wednesday December 30, 1981
NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Woke up about 10:00, took a shower and then left for a haircut appointment at
the Brothers Hair Design at 11:30. After the haircut, went to McDonalds and ate
and then went home, mom and Tammy (dad had gone to the farm) took the car to
Rubenstiens, so I listened to records. Tried calling Laura but she was not home-
out shopping with her mom). Mom and Tammy came home, Frank called had called and
wanted to know if I wanted to go to Marti’s house and play games with her and
her brother. I said yes at first, and then called back and said no. Dad came
home about 7:00. I did talk to Laura about 5:20, she had basketball practice
from 6:00 – 7:00 and was supposed to be at Laurie’s house at 7:00 to stay
with her. (Laurie’s mom and asked Laura to stay the night the night before, at
the hospital). Mom needed the car that night so Frank and Daniel came over about
7:10 in the Dragon Wagon and we all went to Laurie’s house. Laura was already
there. Laurie’s mom was going to a party that night but had not left to go to
it yet so her mom and her mom’s company talked in Laurie’s living room until
about 7:35 or so, then they left for the party they were all going to. Me,
Laura, Laurie, and Daniel and Frank were watching TV when Paul dropped over (he
got off work at 9:00 that night).
Then Frank and Paul left to get Margartiias and to drop off Frank’s sation
wagon. They later came back (Thrifty was closed) and Laurie was not feeling to
well so we left (except Laura, who stayed until about 1:30). So Frank, me,
Daniel, and Paul grabbed our beer (we left Laura 2 or 3) and went out in Paul’s
car in search of somewhere to go. We were going to a washeterria but it was
closed, so we ended up at the den at my house again. After a short while, Paul
said he was sleepy so he left and he bumped into the doorbell on his way out. So
Frank and I talked while Daniel looked wasted on grandma’s bed. Later took
Frank and Daniel home in mom’s car, I came home and made Macaroni and Cheese,
and tried to work the Rubik Cube and then went to bed. It was late, very late.
Was it a car washiterria or one for clothes? Why were we there?

Thursday December 31, 1981

NO SCHOOL – CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
Woke up after noon, called Laura, she was watching her soaps and was going to
take it easy all day. Also found out that Laurie was mad at me. I told Laura not
to wear jeans tonight and to tell Laurie also. I took a shower, Gayle called on
the way to Robert’s house, stopped at Gayle’s house to drop off pictures.
Robert was not home (later found out that him and Ron had been at dad’s farm
all day) but left the group pictures and an extra gallon of milk with his
mother. Came home at 5:30 and called Laura but Joe said she was in the shower.
She called me back about 5:45. I told her I would pick them up at 6:30. Berry
came over for her chains (used to pull car out) and Joe Manchester dropped over.
Frank called, was going to be at Marti’s until 8:00 and he would just walk
over. So Laura and I and Laurie watched TV at my house. Frank called and then
walked over with Daniel at about 8:15, my parents were at the Farm (and had been
all day) and Paul got off work at 9:00. The same time Paul got there, Terry
Jostings and Teresa Bacillit her friend saw us (the gang) shooting bottle
rockets that Laura had stolen from Joe, her brother. Then Terry and Teresa and
friend left and the GANG went in Paul’s car to the Days Inn motel. They would
not give Laura or me a room. Embarrassing! But they did give Paul and Frank a
room. Laura was right about that. Laura and Laurie stripped and Laura flashed us
and then Daniel and Paul stripped and Paul flashed us. We all had lots of beer
that night but no one except Daniel got anything more than just a little bit
buzzed. About 1:30 A.M. we all left the hotel room (Laura and I had been
wrestling on the bed) and as Paul was driving us home Laura asked if she could
call me. I said "yes." She called and then I got home and Tammy said
that she would call again in a few minutes. Simmins was just leaving and as Paul
dropped me off, my parents were just pulling up. Laura called back, she said
that she was going to Dallas with her mother in the morning but would be back
sometime Saturday night. Now she tells me! I had to let her go once but she
called right back. Mom, Dad, and Tammy got in a fight. Frank never did show up
to eat with me like he said (THANK GOD). Toward the end of the night Laurie got
in a better mood and even drank some beer. At the motel we all did play Buzz and
a little Col. Puff. Got to bed pretty late.
